Meet Jeffrey Lingenfelter PA-C
Jeffrey Lingenfelter is a board certified physician assistant specializing in orthopedics and regenerative medicine. He has been working as an orthopedic physician assistant for over ten years assisting in the operating room, seeing patients in the office, running PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)/orthobiologic clinics, and running injection clinics independently. Jeff has mastered the use of fluoroscopy (x-ray) and ultrasound to help guide his injections to increase the accuracy. He has developed a passion for making patients feel better, live more active lifestyles and return to the things they love to do. Commonly treated conditions include osteoarthritis, tendinitis, tendon tears, bursitis, muscle and ligament injuries as well as many other musculoskeletal problems.
Jeffrey Lingenfelter graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with a physician assistant degree, and earned his undergraduate degree at University of Massachusetts, Amherst majoring in kinesiology. He has spent the last 10 years with orthopedic surgeons in the greater Boston area learning and developing the best types of treatments for musculoskeletal problems. After seeing some of the challenges and complications of orthopedic surgery as well as seeing the many successes of PRP Injections, Jeffrey has chosen to specialize in regenerative medicine, using safe and effective biologic injections to make patients feel better rather than an unpredictable surgical approach.

Injection Options
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
PRP has been used for over 20 years and has been shown by many studies to be the most effective treatment for certain joint and musculoskeletal problems. It uses your own tissues and biologic materials to help heal and recover. PRP is a 30-minute minimally invasive procedure that can be done conveniently in the office or even the comfort of your own home.
A PRP injection is composed of the top 5% of your blood that is useful for turning on cell signaling for healing and repair and is injected around the source of the problem. PRP has been shown through some studies to be one of the most effective and longest lasting treatment for alignments. PRP has been shown in some studies to even regrow cartilage! The top athletes in the world have been using it for decades, and now it is more accessible than ever to the general population.
BMAC/Stem Cell
BMAC is an advanced regenerative medicine procedure designed to support the body’s natural healing process. This minimally invasive treatment begins by carefully harvesting bone marrow from the pelvis through a small opening.
The bone marrow is then processed to concentrate its most powerful healing components, including mesenchymal stem cells, growth factors, and other regenerative cells. These elements work togetherto help reduce inflammation, support tissue repair, and promote recovery.
Once prepared, the concentrated solution is precisely injected into the area of concern—such as a joint, tendon, or ligament—to stimulate healing from within.
Cortisone
Cortisone is a steroidal anti-inflammatory. In general, it is over-used and at times can harm the structures that it is injected around. Although cortisone has certain drawbacks, it can be useful for certain conditions at specific times. Generally, Optimal Orthopedics™ does not encourage repetitive cortisone injections in the same area, but it can be helpful when used infrequently.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA)/Gel Injections
Hyaluronic acid (HA) injections are lubricating injections most commonly used to treat knee arthritis, but they can also be used for arthritis of the hip and shoulder. HA acts as a lubricant and shock absorber within the joint, helping to reduce friction between worn cartilage surfaces. It can also slightly improve joint cushioning, which may help decrease pain and inflammation. Most patients experience symptom relief for up to 6 months, and the injections can be safely repeated as needed if they continue to provide benefit.
